Scalby U13 6-a-side Tournament 2009

The 2nd Annual Scalby U13 Junior 6-A-Side Cricket Tournament took place on Sunday 23rd August at Carr Lane.  Nine local teams competed in the competition over 12 matches to try and wrestle the crown from 2008 champions Pickering.
The competition featured 3 groups of three with the winners of each group and the best runner up advancing into the semi-finals.  Group A was won by Cloughton who defeated  Scarborough and Hunmanby, Group B was won by Scalby A who defeated Wykeham and Cayton and finally Group C was won by Pickering who defeated Scalby B and Bridlington.  The best runner up was Cayton in Group B mainly thanks to their total of 120 in their group game against Wykeham sending them through with the best run rate.
The first semi-final featured Group A winners Cloughton who lost out to Group B winners Scalby A by 6 wickets.
The second semi-final featured Group C winners Pickering who lost out to Group runners up Cayton also by 6 wickets.
The final pitted Scalby A against Cayton.  Cayton batted first and scored a good total of 49 for 3 with Josh Brown making 23.  In reply Scalby A could only manage 27 for 5 against some good tight bowling especially G Worthy who took 2-4.
Congratulations go to Cayton for being the 2009 champions.
Many thanks go out to our sponsors Jewsons, MKM and Premier Turf.
